Rope Rescue Technician I / II

Rope Rescue Technician I/II provides an intense, five-day, 40-hour training in rope rescue fundamentals, focusing on high- and low-angle rescue techniques. The course covers skills used in mountain, industrial, and confined space rescues. CMC Rescue has long been recognized as the source on how to use technical rescue equipment and we taught our first contract rope rescue course in 1982. Today’s classes reflect all those years of experience in training rescue professionals, providing the highest level of training value for your investment of time and money.

Skills Taught

Equipment selection, inspection and maintenance; knots; anchors; patient packaging; mechanical advantage systems; belaying; lowering systems; rappelling; knot passing through rappels, raising and lowering systems; system safety factors; litter rigging and tending; pick-offs; and stretcher evacuations. Practical application is taught through scenarios drawn from actual rescue experience. Be prepared for a lot of information and an intense hands-on class.

Rope Rescue Technician III

Covers NFPA 1670 Rope Rescue – Technician Level Skills

Rope Rescue Technician III is an advanced rope rescue training for the serious professional. In this 40-hour class, you are challenged by scenarios that test your rigging skills and expand your problem-solving capabilities. The curriculum was developed with more than 18 years experience in teaching rope rescue. We update and revise the course regularly to bring you the latest and best information on rope rescue techniques from our vast network of rescue professionals.

Skills Taught

Updates on the latest equipment, systems testing, belay techniques and other research; equipment and systems demonstration tests; manufactured and improvised artificial high anchor points; high lines; guiding lines; advanced litter handling techniques; and numerous challenging real-life rescue scenarios. The hands-on intensive scenarios will challenge your decision-making abilities and improve your capability to conduct sophisticated team rescues.

This 40-hour, intensive hands-on class prepares the fire/rescue or industrial responder to safely manage a confined space rescue incident. The quality and thoroughness of CMC Rescue’s Confined Space Entry and Rescue Proram was recognized when the State of California based the approved state curriculum on the CMC Rescue program. Our Confined Space Entry and Rescue Manual is the required text for all courses approved by the state. Confined Space Entry and Rescue is one of the most challenging and dangerous rescue operations facing fire and rescue services today. Our class provides the knowledge and practical skills necessary to safely and legally resolve a confined space emergency.

Skills Taught

Rescuer safety; team evaluation; pre-planning; supplied air breathing systems; atmospheric monitoring; communications systems; personal protective equipment; patient packaging and recover; tripods and other artificial high anchor points; lock-out, tag-out; rope systems for confined space assessment, and more. Realistic hands-on scenarios allow the student to gain confidence in this dangerous environment.

Trench Rescue and Shoring

This intensive 24-hour hands-on course covers Technician Level Trench & Evacuation Rescue Skills in NFPA 1006.

Skills Taught

Rescuer safety, understanding OSHA regulations involving trenches and excavations; preplanning; assessing soil composition; cave-in evaluation; stabilization and shoring using wood; hydraulic and air shores.

Emergency Building Shoring

This extensive 24-hour hands-on course covers Technician Level Structural Collapse in NFPA 1670, and meets FEMA Specialists Requirements.

Skills Taught

Safety practices, indications of collapse, formations of voids, shoring principles and concepts, stages of search and rescue, handling and removing casualties, post incident debriefing. To our knowledge, this is the only course of its kind that specializes in building shoring techniques for first responders.
