Use Guide: Rope Access Technician

The Rope Access Technician's equipment allows movement up and down the rope and provides the attachment to the safety line. The gear needs to be light, dependable, and multifunctional as the technician carries all his access gear plus his working tools. CMC recommends the following equipment for Rope Access Technicians.

Petzl Vertex Vent Helmet is popular due to its light weight, comfort and great ventilation. Quick Link, Rectangular for use as an attachment point from your harness to an ascender. CMC ProTech Rigger's Harness is a light-weight certified harness with multiple attachment points and side positioning rings. EOS II Headlamp with its intrinsically safe rating is the safest and brightest for working in hazardous environments. Petzl Croll is a chest-mounted ascender providing an efficient method of ascending a fixed line. CMC ProTech Manual-Lock Carabiners stay unlocked until put into service. Then a 1/4 turn locks the gate for a secure one-handed operation. CMC Rescue Rappel Gloves have the extra protection needed when working in confined spaces environments without sacrificing dexterity. Petzl ASAP and lanyard is a mobile fall arrester that will follow up or down your safety line as you climb and descend. Petzl Handled Ascender Can be used for self-belaying or as a handled ascender on a fixed rope.
