Thank You for Choosing CMC Rescue Equipment
When CMC Rescue was founded in 1978 our mission was to provide rescuers with a knowledgeable source
for the specialized equipment they needed to do their jobs. Over the years we have grown to support
a wide variety of rescue activities as a leading designer, manufacturer, trainer, and distributor.
We have always been active rescuers ourselves, with a strong experience base to help us understand the
needs of our customers.
Our participation on industry committees and in related organizations
strengthens the sense of community we feel with our customers. Each of our employees recognizes the
importance of doing their job well so that those who use our products will have the best chance for
success when they put their life on the line to help others.
The single most statisfying aspect of being part of CMC Rescue is the trust and loyalty shown by our
customers. Your support is gratifying and will never be taken for granted. We will continue to find
ways to exceed your expectations for quality and excellence in everything we do. We enjoy hearing from
you and welcome your input.
We extend our thanks and appreciation to all of the rescue professionals who have placed their trust and

About CMC Brands

In 1983, we designed the CMC Rescue Harness to give the rescuer a more functional harness than the sport
climbing harnesses in use at that time. As we added more new designs,
CMC Rescue became our
manufacturing label. As our reputation for innovative high-quality products rapidly grew, we changed the company
name to CMC Rescue, Inc. to better describe the focus of our business.
By 1985 we were teaching more and more classes. We continued to refine old techniques and develop new
ones for safer and more efficient rescues. This led to the creation of an even wider range of innovative
products designed to meet specific needs. CMC ProSeries products, such as the ProSeries Pick Off Strap
and ProSeries Load Release Strap were born from the hands-on experience of rescue professionals. Our ProSeries
Rescue Harnesses rapidly developed a reputation for industry-leading comfort and performance.
In 1999, we developed a series of light-weight, high performance full-body harnesses under the CMC ProTech
label. The ProTech line soon expanded to meet the needs of other users as well as resucers. CMC ProTech equipment
has become an affordable, high-value product line that still reflects CMC's unwavering commitment to quality.

CMC Supports the Rescue Community

CMC Rescue is proud to co-sponsor the International Technical Rescue Symposium
and a long time supporter of the U.S. delegate to the Terrestrial Rescue Commission of the
International Commission for Alpine Rescue (KAR). CMC is also a founding member of the Society of
Professional Rope Access Technicians (SPRAT). Members of our staff are active a professional firefighters
and SAR volunteers and have served on the board of directors of the National Association
for Search and Rescue (NASAR).
Through active participation in national standards committees, CMC Rescue helps develop
standards to enhance rescuer safety. Our staff are members of the NFPA technical committees
which are responsible for the NFPA 1983 Standard on Life Safety Rope and Emergency Equipment for
Emergency Services, and the NFPA 1670 Standard on Operations and Training for Technical Search & Rescue
Incidents. We are also on the ASTM F-32 Committee on Search and Rescue and the ASSE Committee for ANSI Z359
standard on fall protection.
The Industry’s key standard setting organizations include:
National Fire Protection Association
— NFPA standards are based on industry consensus and voluntary compliance.
NFPA 1983 Standard on Fire Service Life Safety Rope and System Components
sets standards for rope rescue equipment. CMC Rescue offers the widest selection
of rope, harnesses, and hardware certified to NFPA 1983.
ASTM — The ASTM F32 Committee
on Search & Rescue writes standards on search and rescue operations and
equipment. ASTM standards are developed through the consensus of all the
ASTM members. Compliance is voluntary. One important and useful standard,
ASTM F 1740-96, concerns the inspection and retirement of rescue ropes.
American National Standards Institute
— ANSI is a private sector standards coordinating center for US and
international standards. While they are consensus based with voluntary compliance,
they become mandatory when referenced in OSHA regulations. ANSI Z359.1 is
an example of a standard affecting fall protection. CMC Rescue uses this
particular standard to certify many of our harnesses.
Occupational Safety & Health Administration
— OSHA is a federal agency that develops regulations governing workplace
safety. Some of these regulations cover fall protection and confined space
entry and rescue.
Comité Européen de Normalisation
— CEN sets European equipment standards. The Personal Protective Equipment
Directive requires certain equipment to be CEN approved and stamped with
the CE mark for distribution to Europe.
Union of International Alpine Associations
— The UIAA is a European mountaineering organization that develops
sport climbing and mountaineering equipment standards. UIAA standards are
being phased into CEN standards.
Cordage Institute — CI
is an association of rope manufacturers that work to develop standards for
rope specifications and performance.
Society for Professional Rope Access Technicians
— SPRAT is an association of rope manufacturers, educators and users
that is developing a consensus standard titled "Safe Practices for Rope Access".
